Her new costar is talented, beautiful, generous, and the utmost professional. But is Jenna ready to sacrifice what she's worked so hard for in exchange for a shot at something much deeper?

I didn't even realize this was Melissa Braydens debut book until I had finished it. I've read all of her books and have never been disappointed. Her writing style just flows so well, I can never put the books down. I started this book last night and finished as the sun was coming up. To hell with sleep!

The book is about two triple threat actresses, Jenna who's fresh out of a prestigious theater school and Adrienne who is the current star of the show that Jenna just joined. The chemistry is instant and they soon form a relationship that they both agree to keep as casual as possible to avoid all the drama that comes with basically "sh**ting where you eat”. Of course that doesn’t work and the both of them develop stronger feelings for each other than either one are willing to admit. Jenna then gets an opportunity of a lifetime and because of some miscommunication she assumes Adrienne doesn’t feel as strongly about the relationship, so she takes the job.

Fast forward a few years and they again get the opportunity to work together. After going through such a bad break up together things get off to a rocky start … you’ll have to read the read the book to see how it ends and if they are able to reconnect with each other.

Overall: Great read. Flows well and doesn’t disappoint. A bit Formulaic, but still entertaining.

Waiting in the Wings Melissa Brayden Betsy Zajko 9781522660286 Books Reviews

Honestly this book is very good, but there are a few things I couldn't handle.

I really liked the characters and the actual storyline was interesting and drew me in. There was a part in the middle that was a little dry, but other than that it was very good. Unfortunately, I noticed some spelling and/or grammar errors including (if I remember correctly) a you're/your which always just kills me. Also it is written in first person which is something I just can never get used to. If it had been written in third person and with a little bit more editing I really would have liked it.

Overall an okay read but maybe wish it was less expensive.
This was a lovely find. It's a perfect book for a rainy Saturday in front of the fireplace. The characters are well developed; the romance tracks well, the sexy bits are actually sexy and the ending is satisfying.

The book is almost about two romances. Jenna and Adrienne fall in love as naïve, young actresses trying to find their place in their careers and then they reconnect four years later as wiser, successful, mature women.

"Love at first sight"? - Maybe, but I attribute that to that innocence and naiveté I just wrote about, so it rang true for me. Believable break up? - Yes. Given the women's rich backstories (nicely fleshed out) it is completely plausible. Tentative when reconnecting - very, very authentic.

One of the best things about this book is that when Adrienne finally tells Jenna why she walked away those four years ago, Jenna simply says, "I'm sorry". There's no long drawn out cathartic mess of a scene which is why it seemed so convincing to me. I love how these women slowly approach their possible, new relationship.

Ms. Brayden delivers a satisfying ending. So often, authors build up tension and anticipation in the plot only to tie everything up in tidy ending that is fifteen pages long. That really ticks me off because that is just plain lazy. The book had my rapt attention as I couldn't wait to find out how everything was resolved.

The best part? This is a truely romantic read.

This book is definitely worth the time and money.
This is the third book I've read by Ms. Brayden. Having done that, I can see this as a less experienced outing for her, but still so very good. I kept trying to visualize the main characters, and I think I have Jenna in my head (though it does bug me a bit that the picture on the front cover is inconsistent with her written description). Adrienne still remains fuzzy to me. In the first half of the book, Adrienne seemed MUCH older than Jenna, but I had no idea how much. In the second half, Adrienne's more playful side came out. The shift was noticeable and, I felt, inconsistent though I liked her better. I do read with abandon, and probably missed a few of the finer details.

Clearly this subject was something Ms. Brayden knew about and that's always fun. The initial spark between the characters was a bit fast, but I've seen it happen especially when people spend 24/7 with each other in intense environments. I have to say I could not entirely 'go there' that Jenna valued career above all else, and that leap was needed to explain the choices made. I also would have liked more ancillary character development (like both sets of parents).

I like how Ms. Brayden's sense of humor and personality seem to come through in all her novels. The way she writes dialogue is gifted. It’s natural, it’s to the point, it's believable and it’s witty. I'll very much look forward to her next offering!
This book was awesome. I love Melissa Brayden's writing, and she delivered two extremely likable, realistic and interesting characters in this novel. I pretty much loved it from start to finish, and would have no problem recommending it to anyone. Usually, books that deal with celebrities are really poorly done, but I thought she did an excellent job of making everything seem so real, and for the first time I almost felt like I was inside the lives of celebrity characters in a way that was realistic. It didn't just read like a typical romance, which I know is expecting a lot from a book in this genre, but Melissa Brayden managed to pull it off. It was a beautiful story, more of a coming of age novel, and although it didn't all go completely how I would have liked it to every step of the way, I didn't write it, so I was just happy that it was so good from start to finish. Honestly, a wonderful read. If you're wondering whether or not to buy this book, download the sample. I can almost guarantee you'll be making the full purchase 20 minutes later.
